Welcome to our June 23rd auction which is one of our largest ever regular sales with over 1800 lots.
As is usual we commence with Australian (and foreign) coins (lots 1-223) which inc two1813 dumps, a near EF 1923 Half Penny, range 1955-61 Melbourne Proofs and fine range of Gold inc from Perth Mint. The banknotes (lots 224-251) inc $50 Knight/Wheeler bundle of 100 and Hay Internment Camp 1/-.
In the Collectables (lots 252-309) a very rare set/10 Postcards from Galicia for 1943 SS recruitment, followed by a great range of Australian Cigarette Cards (lots 258-303).
We then come to the stamps section which as usual begins with the Large Accumulations (lots 310-332) for Room bidders followed by World A (Aden)-W (World Accumulations), the British Commonwealth countries well represented with Australian Territories and Pacific Is including strong range Fiji, New Guinea, NZ, Papua, other Colonies of note inc various British African, Canada, Gibraltar, Malayan States, West Indies. But the pick would be Great Britain (lots 745-888) which is very strong in QV period mint and used includes over 35 lots of the various Official opts. Foreign is strong also with some fine collections from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany post War, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Peru, Poland, Thematics, USA which would be the most comprehensive array we have had for some time inc pre-stamp covers, F/Flights, Postal Stationery, Hawaii and much modern mint. But the hottest country at this time is the Peoples Republic of China (lot 495-585) for which we have a mouth watering range of scarce items with multiples of M/sheets fine and fresh.
After all that excitement we come to Australia, which will possibly not excite as much as China but nevertheless some fine collections, Roos with many to £2 mainly used, interesting KGV, other pre-decimals well represented inc few varieties. Decimal collections very strong plus some missing colours varieties.
